"All problems are relationship problems"

I heard Dean Sherman say this in his teaching on "Love, Sex and Relationships" there is a book too - a must read if you ask me.
Like he said, every problem relates to something wrong in a relationship somewhere. That I think too much of myself first or too highly about myself, I deserve this or that. Not loving my neighbour as I love myself, but putting myself first!
So,
Problems in my marriage, then someone(s) is thinking more highly of themselves than they ought to.
Problems with my kids, then someone(s) is thinking more highly of themselves than they ought to.
Problems at my work, then someone(s) is thinking more highly of themselves than they ought to.
Problems in my church, then someone(s) is thinking more highly of themselves than they ought to.
Problems in my city, then someone(s) is thinking more highly of themselves than they ought to.
Problems in my country, then someone(s) is thinking more highly of themselves than they ought to.
Problems in my world, then someone(s) is thinking more highly of themselves than they ought to.

Is this too easy? well yes! That's what's so frustrating about it. If I just start loving others as myself. treating people the way I would like them to treat me - what a difference. Think if everyone did that - wow!
But that is not the way life is - why not?

More important than giving to God!

How important are relationships with other people? I was reading in the Bible Mat. 5:23-25. Something I have read many times before, but this time something new!
It says that if you come with a gift to God and you know there is someone that is mad at you, then you should leave your gift and go to that person and make it right. So for God your relationships with others is more important than any gift you might have for Him. That includes being a pastor or missionary. If my relationship with my wife is bad, then God does not care about all the "great" things I think I am doing for Him.

Isaiah talks about what true fasting is in Gods eyes. It's "loose the chains of injustice...set the oppressed free....share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter... clothe the naked".
It's all about me helping others not doing some religious thing that "looks good" like fasting.

How much do you cost?

I have a little discussion group that meets once a month at a bar in town. Last time, before summer vacation, we talked about "What is a fair price". The discussion started with what an item should cost. Like a DVD, maybe it only cost a few cents to produce, but because so many want to buy one the price is much much more. Is that fair?

That’s what it started with, but what was interesting was what came next. We began to talk about wages. Am I worth the wages I get paid? I hope most of the time, but sometimes I think, that I have not produced enough for the company. Do I go to my boss and tell him “please sir, give me a little less”. Am I fair with what I cost? If I expected stores to give a fair price, then I need to live up to the price I cost my employer. So how much do you cost and is it fair?
